I didn’t post an April fools this year. I can’t remember whether I posted one last year either.. oh well.

Maybe I’m an old cunt but I don’t see the point in real April Fools. Wouldn’t it be better to make a real announcement on April Fools day that everyone thought was an April Fools because it’s so unexpected? That way everyone that thinks they’re not being fooled are actually fooling themselves. Like a pre-planned fool reversal.

I probably shouldn’t post pictures of the new GMod spawn menu yet because it isn’t done, looks like ass and everyone will be like “OH WTF IL STICK W/ GM9 I THINK THAT MENU IS EMPTY”. But here’s some screens anyway. As you can see there’s no more messing around with text files to add new models to your menu. Just browse, right click and add to the category of your choice. The spawn icons are automatically generated.

I have only one suggestion, Please add support for adding your own custom model’s in there :)

Would you please add ability to spawn models with chosen skin for them (.qc based skins) ?
But it looks really useful and automatically generated spawnicons? WOW!

@Mik: I think that it’s a standard file browser so it sees every file you got in the directory you’re browsing, so there should be custom models too.
I think at least.

I love the new model adder, is there a function to stop me from say adding 152 icons for the same model by mistake. “Not actual size. Enlarged to show texture”

This is good, I make mods so I dont have to use the console to make stuff that is not in the menu and now I can just Browse! this gives me some time to work on my real mods =)

Why add them to collections like that though? Couldn’t you just use the file browser to spawn them? ………..nevermind, I just got it, the whole having to search through tons of files to find the desired model thing, gotcha.

. . . all we get in 5 months are new spawn menus and stupid lua wich is only accesable to nerdy tech savy kiddies ? how about …… adding something that stops lag ….. how about adding weight editing…..make a ragdoll 2000 pounds would be nice…..what about a tool for resising props ??? a 2000 pound ragdolll the size of jenny craig would be even better !… what ever happened to being able to apply things like rope or baloons to people ? i mean …. use weight editing so your guy is 20 pounds and get a ninja model and you can really BE LIKE A NINJA AND BE FAST…..and jump high….and the likes…..

and maybe you could add an in game LUA editor for singleplayer?
just a simple notepad like thing so we don’t have to ALT-TAB everytime theres an error in our scripts.

I just remembered that another thing that would make the game much better was if you downloaded the mods the server had to get there models. Also make the “ERROR” models smaller they are really annoying.

Looks good, think someone else mentioned it, but being able to specify the skin when you spawn something would be nice, save people hexing stuff, and saves on disk space because we don’t have to duplicate models, I’d say try and get rid of the modcache somehow, but I figure it must be there for a reason. You may have answered this before… I searched a little but figured it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but how come it’s necessary? Is it purely a loading time thing or does the source engine fuck up if you put content in too many separate folders?
