People have been barking for an update.. so here’s a load of cobbled together shit.

GMod was on BBC1. SteveUK was nice enough to rip it from the iPlayer so everyone can watch it.

Yeah they didn’t mention its name or get permission, but god bless em, they’re only local news.

LittleBigPlanet was delayed because it had verses from the Quran in it set to music. The cycnic in me thinks it was kinda on purpose like a crazy marketing thing (like how Gabe always manages to slag someone off right before a Valve game is released), but then my brain kicks in and thinks about all the money they’d lost from it.

When I see things like this I can’t help but think that terrorism has won. From what I heard the devs had a patch all ready to roll that would remove the song, but Sony didn’t wanna offend so pulled it. More like Sony didn’t want extremists going crazy setting fire to their houses. Which is like, out of fear. So they’re not doing anything out of fear. Seems like in a sensible world they could have just said “Hey we didn’t know, we’re not Muslims, we’ll fix it in a patch” and then everything would be fine. I’m sure the huge majority of muslims would have been fine with that.

I wasn’t really looking forward to LBP anyway, which seems to amaze fans of GMod that keep asking me about it on MSN and stuff. Yeah it looks fun, but ultimately it’s a huge waste of my time. But I guess so is everything.

I’m still working on the engine, but I’m doing basic stuff that I can’t really brag about. Like converting models into my own format, batch rendering, material system, shader system, yadda yadda. There’s a screenshots dump if you wanna look.

I understand “none of your business”, surfing the web while being a muslim can be an irritating experience.
Just look at slashdot, if there is a news involving islam you can be sure it will be negative stuff and there will be lot of “religion of peace my ass” type of comments. So we unfortunately tend to over react (yes i’m muslim too).

And for the LBP thing, was there any type of formal protest? Because such thing can only harm islam and muslim reputation…

I got so fucking pissed when i heard that LBP was gonna be delayed until november 14. And now when i see why it was, i’m even more pissed! Fuck fucking religion! There is no gods! The bible and every religion book is just jibberdish that some dude with a lot of influence and huge fantasy wrote. Probably insane too.
It’s so irritating that we have to wait for something almost one more month just because some fucking line from the quran is in a song! For fuck sake, it’s just a fucking song!!! >:(

@ SteveUK, The Q menu was changed back towards the start of the year when Garry released the updated “OrangeBox” version of Garry’s Mod, complete with a new engine. ‘Derma’ skins were implemented, so now you can download your own skins to change the Q menu :D

I have to agree with you this time. I think it’s just a form of control when people get to censor stuff simply by choosing to be arbitrarily offended by it.
