According to this site, Maddoxx has been arrested (via SteamReview. It seems to be legit, as people in his old clique seem to concede.
For those that don’t know, Maddoxx was pirating a load of Steam games under the name PROViSiON/Empiro (including GMod (hence my attention)). I don’t think that bought a lot of heat onto him until he hacked into one of Valve’s Cybercafe servers, gaining access to hundreds of credit card details (and then distributing them).
This got the media’s attention. He obviously tried to paint himself as a white hat hacker, trying to help Valve secure their shit, sighting Valve’s failure to reply to his emails as the reason for leaking the credit card details (You’re warezing their games and hacking into their servers, why would they reply to you!).
Of course, to play this part he had to take his warez site offline.
At the end of the day he probably wouldn’t have been caught if it wasn’t for his barefaced stupidity.
