Charlie Brooker again. This time on news. There was a banking thing a while ago. A bank/building society called Northern Rock had to borrow some money. The official line was “This is normal, don’t panic”. But the news somehow turned that message into “FUCK ME YOU LOST YOUR MONEY GET IN LINE”. Which caused people to queue up for their money.
This segment of the video especially rings true.
Of course it’s gonna look like a panic if you play “IT’S WAR” music over the back of it. It doesn’t really convey the message “Simmer down, it’s alright”. This manipulation thing the news does to create news for it to report was kind of pariodied in The Day Today way back when.

I can’t remember which sketch show it was, or who said it (yeah I know, doing really well here!), but they said: “I bet when someone goes into a bank for a loan and they go off to process it; they’re actually calling Ocean Finance and asking for a loan to loan the customer”. Not a million miles away from the truth…

Yeah, news today is pretty crap. But that’s what comes from capitalist news corporations. They start trying to give the truth, but eventually you have to alter to maintain running costs, and before you know it all you care about is profits.
Name me one person that doesn’t like Charlie Brooker…and I will find him and kill him…

In my opinion, to watch the news, you have to be very wary of what you believe…coz lets face it, when theyre ‘altering the truth’…you know exactly when theyre doing it, and whether to believe it or not:P

Not bad Garry i see whats going on of the world.But i think its terrible to see how far the commerce are down.I`m happy that i live in germany,its not so extrem to get news.I hate so much news,news are bad and make confuse,they have no other problems to generate news,news and news,to many time is fly away.make like more schools or other better aducations,that`s what the world need.not news news and new.
