i feel heavy, thus the best time to take a survey.
Filled it out and made some practical suggestions.
I want steam to ditch IE for navigation, it’s just too slow.
I don’t want Steam to add more “community” options, it’s essentially a game browser, not Facebook. I also want Valve to trim some excess fat and fix recurring bugs I still get (inaccessible tray window after playing a game for some time). Other than those, I think Steam has come a long way. I used to curse its name after it took over WON for servers.

I told to get rid of that damn fading effect they put on the winodws it doesnt work and looks like crap half the time.
The fading effect works. For me at least.
@Bobby B: It’s a bug with AMD processors and how they handle “time”. Without going into a lot of detail – Valve is currently looking for a workaround fix.
Finished the survey, I think it was 10 minutes well spent.

If it were to anyone but Valve or a student, I’d have ignored it probably. But it was one of those things, so I said “Hey, sure, I’ll help this dude out. Got nothing better to do.”

I wanted the ‘real’ steam 3.0 update, but now I am not sure if the benefits of UDP over TCP would outweigh the problems.
@12- I have an AMD 2500+ and that problem was fixed when I upgraded my RAM, so it doesn’t seem like a Steam issue to me.
Bobby B, AMT: You mean when you open a window and it doesn’t fade in all the way, or even it’s still invisible and you have to close it with the taskbar button?
Cause that’s an occasional problem I have… AMD K7-2 aka Athlon XP
like i said in the survey i want a lite version of steam with just games tools and friends nothing more.
Wow, thanks for posting the link here Garry – I just saw the responses jump from 250 to 900+ in a day! This means I will be hitting my target of 1000 responses in under a week, which is pretty much amazing.

I do not know why, but right after i did this survey, stea did some update and they downloaded a .bat (batch) file into my .gcf folder and this .bat file was named shutdown, and when i opened it with notepad, it sure was a .bat file that shutdown my computer. I think something is a little phishy…

Thank you everybody for all your responses – I have now reached my target of 1000 submissions, thanks entirely to the power of the Intarwebs! I expect it will take me a while to collate the results and get them written up in a presentable form (as I actually have to write the dissertation at some point as well!), so it may be a while before you see the results. Rest assured though, the results (and the dissertation) will be published for all to see.
