Started doing the content packs for TF2, EP2 and Portal today.

The new alyx is a different model to the old one, which helps us GModders out a lot since we can now have both!

Any chance of getting the EP2 NPCs? I know you must be getting these questions a lot, but I’ve suffered a computer breakdown and haven’t been keeping up-to-date on GMod news. I would just like Zombine and the like to mess with in-game. (The idea of Hunter-Zombine battles on Construct makes me tingle, bizarrely)

Even if the portal gun isn’t in this release, I would be happy to see the new EP2 lighting effects, and the Orange Box packs. Don’t get me wrong, I really really really want the portal gun, but if this stuff gets released, or at least goes BETA within the next few days I will be happy. Also, the updated Source SDK is being finalized for release. Looks like we can look forward to some more new TF2 maps!
The Portal gun, I believe Garry said. Wont be in because how buggy it would be. He would have to go in and make sure everything worked correctly with it.
Also he doesn’t have the Portal/TF2/EP2 source code only the Source Engine code.

I suspect there are many new models, so I have an idea.
If you put them in a new “folder” for itself, it would be a lot easier knowing what models belong to EP2.
Or you could have a small inscription on the icons with HL2, EP1, and EP2. Maybe on the DOD:S, CS and so on too. Don’t stress it though. You could always implement it in the update after this. :)

It may not be possible to spawn EP2/Portal NPCs yet because Garry’s Mod (and other non-Orange Box games) still run on pre-Orange Box Source engine…
It will not be possible to upgrade them until the second SDK release (the first will just be for custom maps for the three games; the second will be for mods based on the new engine) however since Garry is a big shot now he might have special, pre-release access to some of this SDK stuff, who knows…

Garry has the full Source engine code availiable to him as part of the deal made with Valve.
If you had looked at the screenshots provided, you can already see its using the new engine.

Garry’s had gmod running on the new orange box source engine since before the OB was released. The update just hasn’t been released yet. He has access to the source code for the engine so he doesn’t have to wait for the sdk update.

A question about the TF2 models, would it be difficult to use the playermodels from it in a gamemode as usable characters? If so, can you hook into pl:Weapon_TranslateActivity( arg ) and/or allow us override which attachments on the playermodel or weapon are being used?
