I noticed over at SteamReview that the Online Gaming Zeitgeist has been updated.
He’s got a blog thing going too, with some pretty interesting analysis stuff, like “Quake 4, what went wrong” and the more up to date Do Free Game Trials Work?.

Tom: You’re right (on #2). It’s such a mess. That’s why there’s the new “Mods by Game” page (finally!), with mods divided by game. There are separated graphics for HL1 and HL2 there (and probably more in the future.. for UT2k4, W:ET, and a few others).
..which brings me to my point: you can also see garrysmod 10 there! See the line going up:

AlfF4Dead: that only counts multiplayer games. Around a 1000 people playing the multiplayer version of a goal-less sandbox mod online is pretty good; for a comparison, The Ship only draws a couple hundred most of the time, and even recently released games on Steam such as Prey never have a dozen people online. Heck, it’s also beating Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.

pretty interesting stuff looks like dod did well because of free trials maybe garry schould do a gmod 10 free trail however we would get a ton of minge bags… it would either be really good or really bad who knows anyways red orchesta has a free trial on december 7th im interested to see what thats like i might consider getting it however the ship sounded great but was rubbish worth game ever! anyways off to see if i can make a really cool player model swep, i think i can, well lets see, thanks garry!

Unless I’m mistaken, Garry covered an easy mod fix in this post.
I used to love playing trials of games on the old CD samplers, but nowadays all the free trials have time limits for the full game which is shit because you’d be able to get the feel of the game more with an old style trial version.
By the way, it says in the update that you added air resistance option to hoverballs, but I thought there already was air resistance?

I have had fun with gmod 10, except for the random crashing… Which has been really bad. Oh well. Making missiles in there is great fun.

YES I KNOW THERE’S A FIX FOR IT, BUT I’M JUST CURIOUS IF HE’S GONNA FIX IT BY UPDATING GMOD.
By looking at the hl2 mod graphs (made the 3 of december) you can see that gmod did a huge jump from nothing to almost 1000

Hey would you be able to tell me if offline mode is supposed to work or not?
Every time I try to play it offline (which is what I need since I can’t go on the internet very often) I get this error:
ENGINE ERROR: You do not have permission to play this game.
So whats the deal? Is it a bug or am I really not aloud to play Garry’s mod offline?

im pretty sure there isn’t going to be a gmod 11 cause he said he just wants it to be garrys mod and then he’s gonna forget version numbers and just have it as garrysmod and keep releasin/updating from steam
yes garry did fix gmod easyweld by steam but the problem was that there was coppies of the files which steam can’t do much about cause i don’t think it’s made to delete files so you have to delete the gamemode folder and steam simply provides you with the new version which dosn’t have the copys in it so it was fixed by steam! thats my interpretation anyways
