Beanstalk

We’ve been using Beanstalk to host our SVN for a while.. and we’re loving it. Here’s why.

SVN is nerdy. Source control is nerdy. That’s how it is. Beanstalk makes it less nerdy.

Setting up a repository and granting permissions is stupidly easy (as you would expect of a web based system like this)

Your changelists are laid out nicely on their site.. which totally beats viewing them in Tortoise.

Clicking on a list takes you to a list of changed files and even shows a nice diff.

It has lots of integration options, so you can use it with other web based stuff (or even your own stuff via the web hooks stuff. It can also email you on each commit.

You can export and download your SVN any time you want – if you want to make local backups or something..

Why can’t everything be this nice, clean and simple to use? It’s perfection.

Pre-emptive: “why not use git?” – Why use it? Yeah it might be better than SVN, but the advantages it offers don’t justify a swap.
