Game Of The Year

These are my top games this year – based on how much time I spent playing them. They weren’t necessarily released this year.

I have played the shit out of RE5 this year. This has got to be one of the few games I’ve played through multiple times on different difficulties. Fun!

2. Left For Dead

In the first half of the year we hit Left 4 Dead pretty hard, and just as it was starting to get old – we were kept entertained by the addition of vs mode.

3. Modern Warfare 2

To be fair this game was HUGE, but I still don’t think I’ve played it more than L4D or RE5 this year. I played it for the singleplayer – and wasn’t even going to touch the multiplayer – but got sucked into that too. Pure Awesome.

4. GeoDefense: Swarm

I know, I know. iPhone games. But I really did play the shit out of this. I was addicted, I played for at least 2 hours every day for a couple of months.

At its core it’s your a tower defense game, but the levels are curved so well, you get a real sense of achievement when you finally beat one.

5. Team Fortress 2

TF2 was strong, but it lost out to L4D, then I pretty much forgot about it. There were bursts of action, dipping in and out of it, with class updates and hats  – but ultimately it couldn’t keep our attention over the shiny lights of the new games.

6. Chess With Friends

Chess with friends is my wife. It’s the last thing I see at night, and the first thing I see in the morning. It’s chess, with friends who have iPhones. You do your move, then next time they check their phone they have a new move, and have theirs.. and it goes back and forth like that.

I know people who when I see them in real life all we talk about is out last move on chess.

7. Fight Night Round 4

I loved Fight Night Round 3. I played the ass off it. I was hoping 4 would be the same with less of the menu browsing and load times. I was disappointed both times there – but it was ok. I stopped playing it because I kept losing.
