A GMod sale is now on. 50% off, incase $10 was too much for you in the recession.. but for some reason you can afford $5. Hey god bless ya though. Sale seems to be going well. The day before sold 568 units. And the day of the sale sold 4,805 units. I didn’t really expect that, on release day (nearly 3 years ago now) it ‘only’ sold 6,000 units. So I’m happy with it!
Me and Facepunch co-owner Gwilty have been playing the shit out of Resident Evil 5 on the 360. All games should be coop. We beat it, and it was like aight. Then it was like hey hang on theres a new gamemode called Mercenaries mode and we played the shit out of that. Then we decided to get all achievements, and played through the game again on normal. Now we’re playing though again on hard and trying to get all the gems at the same time. Lovin’ it.
We’ve decided to start getting Facepunch moving. Talking about hiring people and shit, programmers, web developers. But we’ve got to kind of lock down what exactly we’re going to do first. So that’s something I’ve been working on. I think the “make something you wanna play” thing is gonna kick in. We can afford to make a few mistakes to learn from.

Garry you might want to postpone hiring personell to the very last moment.
they only cost you money. Keep in mind that an avarage worker costs the employer up to 3 times his or her salary per month (insurances, taxes etc). Starting up a business has always been “lots of work for minor payment” in the beginning. It starts to pay off after years of hard work.
Maybe it’s an idea to hire friends/relatives initially on a “no cure no pay” base ?

You should really think about selling it for the same price in all regions. I bought it when it cost 10$, but its 10€ now and that’s quite a bit more.
I can imagine that some potential customers don’t buy (pirate it instead) GMod because they feel ripped off when they are paying more for the same product.
Personally I would sell it for 8€.
But whatever, it’s still your game and your choice….

I’d love to be a web developer for Facepunch/Garry. My qualification: PHP/MySQL/JS/AJAX/XHTML and other stuff i can’t think of.
But yeah, hiring people can be some expensive fun; Depending on if they’re really just doing this as an occasional job or as full-time.

I am going to have to agree with 5 you better have a solid idea on what you gonna create instead of hiring people and then being like hmm let’s create something. It will reduce the amount of money spent paying engineers salary if they really have a concrete idea or a good amount of work. You may tell them hey start building the engine but if they dont know what the engine should do it would be rather mood :S.

And as has been said time and time again – if the price is right, it’ll sell, irrelevant of quality.
I would agree that employees are better left till later on. Not only are they expensive, you’ll need a crap load of paperwork to protect you from being screwed over. If you don’t know what ACAS is it’s time to find out.
However, if you really can’t cope bring in people you can trust and work hard, over hot-shots. The extra hours and peace of mind will keep you going longer than an ace programmer.

Like i said on the post, its gunna take ALOT of effort to bring it back out of the shitter. Especialy as most of the normal gamemodes have stopped because you’ve (not to target) have pissed them off and banned them.

There are many simple ways in which you can stop the new players from becoming minges. There are many ways in which you can repair Facepunch from the global lable it has currently. The big problem now is that there will be a big boost of new players joining random servers that are gunna fuck up peoples computers and damage reputations. There’s no valid or useful ways in which we can educate the new players, but you can’t class a new player a minge because you find it inconvinient to have endless questions you think everyone should know. Minge is the state they get toafter not being helped and are taken into that enviroment some people call “darkrp” Although there is 100% nothing wrong with rp, it’s if you think about it the only gamemode from an ever decreasing list that you can run on a server and maybe have some players on.( kind of got lost in my own writting so maybe a bad way to describe the reasons why so many people use it)

I disagree a little. A couple of my friends want to play GMod when they come to my house, and all they end up doing is shooting things in the face over and over, and thinking its great everytime. (No they aren’t little kids and they aren’t retarded, they’re just not us “pro” gmoders, more like average fraggers). Not all mingebags try to learn. When we play with two computers, they just shoot you when you’re trying to build. My friends are good examples of mingebags. :0

How the hell did you beat the ship level in mercenaries, it’s so damn hard.
Ship level is so easy when you have Wesker. Just shoot the pumpkin head guys until they die (takes about 4 shots). Then you’re home free. You need to kill the bosses on the mercenaries – thats where the big points are!

I love the css spoofs site… thats just incredibly incredible… and who else wants a counter strike 2, that will not only come out on pc but also playstation 3 and xbox 360…. It just has to happen, valve would make sooo much money and who eva else makes it… and also i never had the chance to play any of the old beta versions of css, and i really wana, is there any way how???
More gamemodes are gunna get released from what i’ve heard, some people are such priks.
